Dr. Senapati, M.A, M.phil, Ph.D from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was awarded Jindal Scholarship & ICSSR fellowship during his M.Phil. & Ph.D. He has cleared National Eligibility Test for lectureship conducted by U.G.C on International and Area Studies.Prior joining Giri Institute of Development Studies as Associate Professor, he was working as Assistant Professor in Sardar Patel Institute of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Indian Institute of Dalit Studies; New Delhi, UGC-Post–Doctoral Fellow J.N.U, New Delhi. He has visited one year lien to School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar to teach Masters' Classes in International Studies.
Dr. Senapati having sixteen years of teaching and research experience after completing Ph.D. He is trained in "Academic Capacity Building and Methodology Module" from International Development Department, University of Birmingham in 2007. He has presented more than thirty papers in International and National seminars and invited as resource person and keynote address on various occasions. He had completed three international and three national research projects on South Asia, South East & South West Pacific, Central Asia and India. Apart from India he has also undertaken various research work on Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Government of Republic of Kazakhstan had given him special academic grant to do research on Kazakhstan economy and polity in 2008.
Dr. Senapati is recognised as guide to Ph.D. scholars by various Universities and guiding three PhD scholars in GIDS (GIDS PhD programme is affiliated with Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, a Central University). His booksare published by an international publishing-house including "Exclusion and Poverty in India and Central Asia: A Diversity and Development Perspective", with Partridge India, a Penguin Random House Company, Bloomington, U.S.A.He has till date, fifteen sole research papers published in referred journals, edited books, working papers and six project reports till date. He has visited European, South Asian and Central Asian Countries for his academic and research pursuit. He has visited, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London and Centre of Euro-Asian Studies, University of Reading, University of Birmingham in United Kingdom; Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Tbilisi  Republic of Georgia, Süleyman Demirel University, Almaty, Kazakhstan, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, Uzbekistan.  He has organised International Seminar in Kathmandu, Nepal and India. He was an observer and monitored an international workshop in Chittagong University, Bangladesh, as research co-ordinator for South Asia in Danish project. He is a member of international and national professional bodies i.e. The Economic Research Institute (ERI), Ministry of Economics and Budget Planning, Republics of Kazakhstan and also signed MoU with ERI for academic collaboration, member of Indian Defence and Strategic Analyses, New Delhi, and member of Indian Political Science Association, Meerut (U.P)and Political Economy Association, and member of International Political Science Association, Montreal, Canada and the member of Research Committee 47 Local – Global Relations, in this IPSA platform.
Hehas conducteda half-dozencapacity building and methodology training programmes for faculty members and research scholars till now.
He has completed and doing research project on national and international comparative Studies on development issues. He is interested to do work on Human Security, Political economy, Public policy, Political Science andInternational Relations,Marginalisation, Glocal Issues, and Social Science Methods.

Dr. Charan Singh Verma, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Public Health Research in GIDS, is engaged in research and teaching for two and a half decades. While he has taught at university level both Under graduate and Masters students, he also supervised M.Phil and PhD students and independent researchers from India and abroad. Dr Verma has vast experience in development sector working with Civil Society Organisations and movements and International Organisations on issues of public health, gender, livelihood, nutrition, climate change, governance and accountability and Global development. He has lead several intervention programs in community ranging from women empowerment (SHGs), Community awareness on education, health, climate change and entitlements. Dr Verma has completed more than 50 projects in collaboration with national and international organisations. He has also implemented a number of Action Research Projects and has trained teams of rural volunteers and researchers. He has provided Consultancy for PROACT, PACS project, Aimed at Poverty alleviation, funded by Department for International Development (DFID), UK, during March 2007-8; UNDP supported Multi sectoral Approach to Health Project 2004-05; GDS- 2017-18 on Agriculture and Food related issues. He has authored three books, two edited books, three half a dozen chapters in edited books and scores of papers in research journals of repute. Dr. Verma has more than 50 articles in reputed national dailies, and several projects reports to his credit. He has organized dozens of national and regional Seminars and workshops. Dr. Verma attended more than hundred National Seminars as Resource Person and more than a dozen International Seminars as invited speaker including international conferences "Developing Universal Social Security Systems" Brasilia, Brazil; World health Assembly SAVAR, Dhaka, Bangladesh; World Association of Political Economy Conference at Patiala ( 2015);Bejing (2016); Moscow (2017); Berlin (2018). Presently he is a Visiting Fellow at IDS, Sussex, UK.

Dr Verma has also served National Herald, New Delhi, as a journalist for three years before joining university teaching. He has a Masters in Economics .He did M.Phil on Sino-Soviet Trade in the Eighties, and a Ph.D on Reforms of Soviet Foreign Trade Sector, from School of International Studies, J.N.U. New Delhi. Currently Dr Verma is working in the field of Social Protection, Livelihood and Nutrition; Climate Change; Public Health; Global Health, Development and Global South; Child and Maternal Health.

PRASANT KUMAR TRIVEDI

Dr. Prashant Kumar Trivedi (Associate Professor) has done his Doctorate on Dalit Women and Social Development: A Sociological Study of Lucknow District of Uttar Pradesh from the University of Lucknow in Sociology. His research interests include political economy of land reforms, rural studies and issues relating to Dalits, Muslims and Women with a special focus on Uttar Pradesh, India. He has published articles on a variety of subjects including gender and law, caste and violence and inequality in development in various journals including Economic and Political Weekly, Journal of Indian School of Political Economy and Social Change. His latest book ‘Beyond the Religious Divide- Caste and Ubiqutous Backwardness’ will arrive soon. Before this he edited ‘The Globalisation Turbulence: Emerging Tensions in India Society (Rawat Publications) and coauthored ‘Weapon of the Oppressed: An Inventory of People’s Rights in India (Daanish Books). Before joining the Giri Institute, he was faculty at the Council for Social Development, New Delhi since 2006. During this period he was Book Review Editor of Social Change, a peer reviewed journal published by Sage.

Dr. Kesana Srinivasa Rao, Associate Professor holds M.A. in Applied Economics (IInd Rank), Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics (Ist Rank) from Andhra University and he was awarded Ph.D. in Applied Economics on the thesis “Rural Non-Farm Employment and Residual sector Hypothesis” by Andhra University. Specialized areas of Dr. Rao are Rural Development, Skill Development and Human Development etc. Before joining GIDS, earlier he was Joint Director, Institute of Applied Manpower Research, Narela, Delhi. He has been teaching for the last 16 years to International Civil Servants from all the continents of the World. So far, he has taught 130 countries to the junior, middle and senior level civil servants in the area of Human Resource Planning and Development and also often, he used to teach to Indian Civil Servants at LBSNAA, Mussoorie. And around 6 years, he has trained Young Professionals for CAPART, Ministry of Rural Development also. He is a Life member of Indian Society of Labour Economics and Andhra Pradesh Economic Association. He is also a Ph.D. Examiner for Osmania University, Dept. of Economics, since 2002, and Nagarjuna University since 2003. Dr. Rao attended many Important Training Programmes. He has supervised 65 Master’s degree and Advanced Diploma Courses International participants for the partial fulfillment of their courses. In totally Dr. has research experience of 26 years and drafted around 30 Project Reports and presented/published around 25 papers in various journals and National and International seminars/conferences. He has attended/participated more than 33 National/International Conferences/Seminars/Workshops. Dr. Rao received Best student award at Graduation level in 1987. Dr. Rao is one of the recipients of ‘Shiksha Rattan Puraskar’ award in 2013 from Indian International Friendship Society, Delhi, India. And recently he has received ‘Mahatma Gandhi Ekta Samman’ award in 2013 from Indian International Friendship Society, Delhi, India. International Publishing House has awarded ‘Best Citizens of India’ and published his brief biography in the book titled ‘Honoured Best Citizens of India’ during 2013.

Dr. Nomita P. Kumar (b.1965), Assistant Professor, holds MA in economics from Lucknow University and Ph.d. (Economics) from Kanpur University. She was awarded ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship at the Giri Institute of Development Studies from 1989- 1993 for her Phd. She started her career as part-time Lecturer in Economics Department, University of Lucknow. She has almost 26 years of research experience and has worked in different research projects at the Institute. One study was conducted with Prof. Ashutosh Varshney of Haward University in July 1994 to December 1995. She has also worked for Second State Finance Commission as Senior Research Fellow under Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. She was awarded UGC Fellowship for carrying out Post-Doctoral research during 2003-2006. Besides research experience she also has teaching experience at the graduation and post graduation level. Till now she has 20 research papers, 4 articles in edited books and two papers in Government reports. She has contributed several articles and presented papers in a number of national conferences and seminars. She has directed 13 research projects sponsored by reputed institutions and government departments and recently 4 other projects are ongoing. She was nominated Member of the Board of Management of State Resource Centre (Educational and Social Research), India Literacy Board, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. She is member of various academic associations. Major areas of her research interest are Women Studies, Labour Market and Employment Scenario, Issues Related to Family Welfare and Population Policy, Situational Analysis of Uttar Pradesh, Regional Development and Small Scale Industry.

SHILP SHIKHA SINGH

Shilp Shikha Singh, Assistant Professor, holds a Master's degree in Political Science from the University of Lucknow and a D.Phil. on Political Mobilisation and Food Security in Uttar Pradesh from the G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, University of Allahabad, Allahabad. She has been a recipient of ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship, NRTT Post-doc Fellowship and qualified for UGC Post-doc Fellowship for Women. Her previous research assignments include: Research and Programme Manager in the development sector for understanding problems and implementing programmes of education in conflict areas such as those affected by naxalites, multilingual education in the tribal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Musahar pockets of Bihar and tribal communities on the Inter-State border areas; Postdoc Fellow at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta to work on the governmentality of the Musahar community in the Kushinagar and Maharajganj districts of Uttar Pradesh; and a Research Officer at the Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute to work on Agrarian Crisis and Encroachment of Public Water Bodies, Children’s Education on the Conflict and Crisis Situation. She also taught Political Theory to Law students at the Raffles University, Neemrana, Contemporary Political Theory, Institutions and Identities to MPhil Students at CSSSC, and undergraduate students at I P College, University of Delhi. Her current areas of interest are the politics of Marginalities and Governance, trends of protest and public action in contemporary India. Her recent contribution Intervention and Identity: Reconstructing Marginality, An Ethnographic Account, in EPW, Vol. 48 No. 20 May 2013 received scholarly attention. Kavita Baliyan, Assistant Professor, holds a M.A. & M.Phil degree in Economics from the Department of Economics, Ch. Charan Singh University Campus Meerut and has done her Doctorate on "Participation and Economic Contribution of Women in Agriculture with Special Reference to Western Uttar Pradesh" from the Giri Institute of Development Studies, Lucknow, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. She has been a recipient of ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship. Before joining Giri Institute of Development Studies, she was working as a Research Associate in National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) in the domain of "Poverty Alleviation and Economic Empowerment of Women", Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI, New Delhi. She has also worked as a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the project "Strengthening the value chain for economic efficiency: The case of small ruminant meat marketing in India (ICAR-funded)" in NCAP, Pusa, New Delhi. Till now she has 12 research papers, 1 article in edited books and one paper in Government reports. She has presented papers in a number of national conferences and seminars. Major areas of her research interest are Gender Studies, gender based discrimination, employment, Wages, Labour and Employment-changing patterns (sectoral, regional), Skill Development, Macroeconomics and Development, Child skewed sex ratio, issue related to agriculture development.

ANIMESH ROY

Animesh Roy received his Doctoral Degree in Development Geography from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2015. He is presently working as an assistant professor. His wide interests of research include land dispossession and dynamics of development, political economy of land and rural transformation, tribal exclusion (Uttar Pradesh), and khasi matrilineage.

Many of his sole-authored research papers and critical comments have been published in
refereed journals of international and national repute, such as the Journal of Land and Rural Studies (SAGE), Society and Culture in South Asia (SAGE), Chinese Sociological Dialogue (SAGE), Social Change (SAGE), Journal of Rural Development, Social Change and Development, Asian Profile, Punjab Geographer, Indian Journal of Spatial Science, Asian Studies and Economic and Political Weekly, and a book review in American Journal of Sociology. He has also contributed two book chapters to ‘Agriculture in India’ (2021) and ‘Land and Livelihoods in India’ (2020) published by Rawat Publications and Palgrave Macmillan, Singapore respectively.

Dr. Manjur Ali, Assistant Professor, have done Ph.D. on “Liberalization and Its Impact on Handloom Industry in India: A Case Study of Muslim Weavers of Banaras”, from Centre for Political Studies (CPS), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He has also done his M.Phil. “Understanding of Democratic Assertion of ‘Pasmanda’ Muslims: A Case Study of Bihar”, from CPS, JNU, New Delhi. Before joining GIDS, he was posted as Research Officer in Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability (CBGA), New Delhi, since August, 2011. In CBGA, he has led number of projects. Some of the major projects were: a) Tracking Policy and Budgetary Commitments for Drinking Water and Sanitation: A Study of Select States; b) Public Policies And Investments For The Welfare Of Children In Urban Poverty In India; c) Tracking Fund Utilization in National Rural Drinking Water Programme and Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan: A Study on Sehore District of Madhya Pradesh. He has also Co-authored, a Working Paper on “Social Security Provisioning in Bihar: A Case for Universal Old Age Pension”.

He has brief stint as Guest Faculty in Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (NMCPCR) in JamiaMilliaIslamia, New Delhi. He had work for Indian Statistical Institute (Delhi) as a Research Assistant under a UGC project entitled “Political Opportunism & Economic Performance in Major Indian States 1967-2007”. He has four research papers, two commentaries in International journal and more than 40 publications, which includes number of chapters in books, commentary and reviews, under his credit. He has participated and presented research papers in national and international seminars in India. His research interest areas are: Political Theory, Indian Politics, Social Justice, Water and Sanitation and Budget and Governance Study in India.
